HYDERABAD: Generally, films that don't work well at the box office end up on OTT platforms a couple of weeks after release. But releasing a film on an OTT platform especially when it is doing a phenomenal theatrical business is a strange phenomenon. Balagam falls under this list.
Directed by comedian Venu, Balagam is a rural drama which was released on March 3. Upon its release, the film gained positive word of mouth and the collections increased day by day. The earnings in the second week were more than the collections of the first week.
Many theatres reported housefuls even during the third weekend and on the Ugadi festival. Surprisingly, this film is now out on Amazon Prime Video, when it is still playing in many theatres across Telangana. While Balagam is available on Prime Video in India, it is available on Simply South outside India.
People who missed watching it in theatres can now catch it on Prime Video. Balagam features Priyadarshi and Kavya Kalyanram in the main roles. Dil Raju presented the project while Hanshitha Reddy and Harshith Reddy bankrolled it.
