HYDERABAD: Rishab Shetty, the multi-talented Kannada actor-director, gained international recognition with his highly successful film "Kantara". Despite being made with a moderate budget and initially only released in Kannada, the film quickly garnered widespread praise and was dubbed in several other major Indian languages. Its immense success resulted in the film being considered for the Oscars, with 2 qualifications.
Recently, Rishab Shetty and the "Kantara" team celebrated the film's 100-day theatrical run with a success bash in Bengaluru.
At the event, Rishab confirmed that he has already started writing the script for "Kantara 2", which is actually a prequel to the original film. He announced that the prequel will hit theaters in 2024.
"We are very grateful for the love and support the audience has shown for 'Kantara'. And I'm thrilled to announce the prequel of the film," said Rishab.
"What you saw in the original film is actually part 2. Part 1 will come out next year. The idea for a prequel came to me while I was shooting 'Kantara'. The history of the film is deeper and more complex, and I want to delve into that. Currently, we're in the middle of researching more details," he added.
