Senior Telugu director Sagar passes away

HYDERABAD: Telugu cinema has lost its finest actors like Krishna, Krishnam Raju and Chalapathi Rao in 2022. In 2023, we lost two of the noted celebrities of the Telugu film industry. Recently, veteran actress Jamuna passed away and left a void in the industry.

Now, popular director Sagar left this world and pushed Tollywood into deep grief. Vidya Sagar Reddy, popularly known as Sagar, is a noted filmmaker in the Telugu film industry. He breathed his last this morning at 05:20 AM in a private hospital in Chennai. He was 70.

Sagar was born in 1952 in Guntur. He started off his career as an assistant director. He made his directorial debut with the 1983 film Rakshasi Loya. The 1991 release, Stuvartpuram Dongalu, made him famous in the industry. His other notable works include Osi Naa Maradala, Anveshana and Khaidi Brothers. In a career spanning over four decades, he directed more than 30 films.

Sagar also served as the President of the Telugu Film Directors Association thrice. His demise is a huge loss for the industry. His final rites will be performed in Chennai this evening. Many Tollywood celebrities and fans are paying their last respects to Sagar on social media.
