HYDERABAD: Director Pa. Ranjith and hero Arya teamed up for the film boxing-based 70s drama Sarpatta Parambarai. It was supposed to be released in theatres. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the makers to have a direct OTT release.
Sarpatta Parambarai was released on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. Upon its release, it received a positive response from both critics as well as the audience. Even Arya's performance received a good response from people.
Now, Pa. Ranjith has announced its sequel. Sharing the first look poster of the film, Ranjith tweeted, "Kabilan returns. For honour and glory. #Sarpatta2 Coming soon." Unlike the first part, Sarpatta 2 will be released in theatres for sure. More details about the rest of the cast and crew are expected to be announced very soon.
The regular shoot will begin soon. Naad Sstudios, Neelam Productions and The Show People will be jointly bankrolling the project.
Meanwhile, Pa Ranjith is currently busy with the works of his next film Thangalaan, which features Vikram as the lead hero. It is slated for release later this year.
