HYDERABAD: Samantha Ruth Prabhu initially announced her collaboration with director Philip John for an Indo-British project, adapting Timeri N Murari’s novel "The Arrangements of Love." However, casting has changed, and now Shruti Haasan will lead the film alongside Viveik Kalra.
Titled "Chennai Story," the romantic comedy is set in Wales and India. Shruti Haasan will portray Anu, a spirited private detective. The film, predominantly in English, will also feature snippets of Tamil and Welsh. It explores themes of self-expression and acceptance.
Shruti expresses her excitement about participating in the project Sunitha Tati of Guru Films produced. She mentions that the story, reflecting the diversity and uniqueness of Chennai, holds special significance for her. Collaborating with Philip for international projects aligns with her vision of storytelling.
Shruti Haasan recently starred in Prasanth Neel’s Telugu film "Salaar" alongside Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. She is set to star with Adivi Sesh in the Hindi-Telugu project "Dacoit."
Additionally, there are rumors of her pairing with Yash in the Kannada film "Toxic," although official confirmation is pending. Shruti is also part of the British psychological thriller "The Eye," directed by Daphne Schmon, alongside Mark Rowley.
