HYDERABAD: Another jewel has been added to director SS Rajamouli's crown. He has been awarded the Best Director Award at the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) Awards for his film RRR. He is the first Indian director to get this honour.
NYFCC is considered one of the best associations in the Hollywood film circles. The jury consists of popular Hollywood film critics. Winning such a prestigious award will help RRR in its Oscar Campaign. After winning Saturn Award for Best International Feature about a month ago, this is another big win for RRR in the Hollywood arena.
All these wins only raised the hope of Indians on RRR in bringing an Oscar home. After these achievements, many film folks in the west feel that RRR will definitely make it to the Oscar race.
Meanwhile, Todd Field's Tar won the Best Picture Award at NYFCC. Colin Farrell won Best Actor for After Yang and The Banshees of Inisherin. Cate Blanchett's performance in Tar brought her the Best Actress Award. Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All At Once) and Keke Palmer (Nope) won Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress Awards respectively.
