HYDERABAD: The film "Hanuman," which premiered in theaters on Sankranti this year and achieved blockbuster success, has finally made its way to digital streaming platforms. Despite the delay and controversy surrounding its release on OTT, the film's team seems to have strategically managed its distribution.
Initially scheduled to debut on OTT on March 8, the release faced postponements. However, instead of a direct OTT release, rumors suggest that Zee Cinema and Cine Flex secured significant deals for the film, capitalizing on its popularity.
The Hindi version of "Hanuman" made its digital debut on Zee Cinema OTT for the first time and premiered on the Cineflex satellite channel in Hindi on Saturday (March 16, 2024), reaching a wide audience. It's reported that these companies profited handsomely from advertising revenue.
Subsequently, on Sunday (March 17, 2024), "Hanuman" was unexpectedly released on OTT streaming platforms in all languages on Zee5, much to the delight of fans. This move, orchestrated by Prasanth Varma, the film's director, has been praised for its strategic business acumen.
We have to see if the film will witness the same kind of response like it did in theatres.
