Super Star Krishna: 3 deaths in Ghattamaneni family in dreadful 2022

HYDERABAD: Super Star of Telugu film industry (Tollywood) Ghattamaneni Krishna passed away in Hyderabad in the early hours of Tuesday. The year 2022 turned out to be the most dreadful for the Ghattamaneni family with the demise of three of its members since January.

First in the list was Ramesh Babu, Krishna's son and elder brother of Tollywood Super Star Mahesh Babu. Ramesh Babu breathed his last on January 8, 2022 after battling for life due to prolonged illness. He was then reported to be suffering from liver-related ailments for many years, leading to his premature death at the age of 57. It was personally an excruciating time for his brother and hero Mahesh Babu as he could neither have a last glimpse of his brother's body nor attend the funeral. Having tested positive for COVID-19, he was confined to his house due to self-isolation.

The next jolt for the family came when Krishna's wife Indira Devi passed away as recently as on September 28, 2022. The 70-year-old mother of Krishna's five children died due to age-related issues, plunging the family into deep sorrow. Despite her husband's super-celebrity status, Indira Devi always remained in the background and was rarely seen in public while discharging her duties as a typical housewife.

The demise of Super Star Krishna on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, delivered a big blow to the Ghattamaneni family that was already devastated by the deaths of Ramesh Babu and Indira Devi. The passing away of one of Telugu cinema's iconic stars also caused agony to countless fans of his and his actor-son Mahesh Babu.

A few years before this, Krishna personally had to endure another shock when his soulmate and yesteryear actress Vijaya Nirmala died on June 27, 2019. Though not directly connected to the Ghattamaneni family, the long courtship of Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala leading to their eventual marriage, was common knowledge to all the Telugu film buffs. Unable to take the separation, Krishna was seen weeping inconsolably after the death of Vijaya Nirmala. It is believed that Vijaya Nirmala's death had a telling impact on the health of the veteran actor.
