The highly anticipated "Leo" premiere featuring Thalapathy Vijay was poised to set a new record for the star in the United States. Advance ticket sales for premiere screenings of the film surpassed $900,000, indicating a potential crossing of the $1 million milestone-based solely on premiere screenings, a significant first in Vijay's career. However, the fans are going to meet with disappointment.

However, the producers unexpectedly abandoned plans to release the film in IMAX theaters and hold early premieres in the United States. This decision was prompted by the Tamilnadu government's refusal to permit early morning shows for the film within the state.

Consequently, the producers chose not to proceed with early premiere shows in the United States, leading to their cancellation and a subsequent impact on ticket sales.

As a result, the expected earnings have now been reduced to $700,000, representing a missed opportunity to reach the coveted $1 million mark through premiere screenings.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Leo" features an ensemble cast including Vijay, Trisha, and Sanjay Dutt. The film draws inspiration from the Hollywood action movie "A History of Violence." The makers officially bought the film's remake rights.

Trisha will be playing Vijay's wife in the film.
