HYDERABAD: S Thaman, one of the leading music directors in the South Indian film Industry in a recent interview, agreed that he copied the tune of “Osey Ramulamma” in Balayya’s Sankranti release “Veera Simha Reddy”. The song “Jai Balayya” sounds eerily similar to “Osey Ramulamma” and has been a topic of debate and trolls ever since its release. Veera Simha Reddy was released today, and during the film's promotions, Thaman made this bold statement.

Many accused Thaman of copying the tune of “Osey Ramulamma”. Now, Thaman has agreed that the tune, in fact, has been copied.

“The tune is copied. Not only me but the director Gopi and Writer Rama Jogayya Shastry also knew it right when we were working on the song. In fact, the original version by Vandemataram Srinivas Garu was played by me. So, when the “Jai Balayya” song was being made, we knew it would be similar to “Osey Ramulamma”. Such crowd theme songs almost have a similar pitch, so it leaves a feeling that we have already heard it somewhere,” said Thaman in a statement.

The accusation of copying tunes and songs is not new for Thaman, and there are a bunch of trolls and busts online regarding the same, the most famous one being “Pilla Chao” from Businessman, who is a straight rip-off of “Bella Ciao”.
