Tollywood Box-Office: No sign of recovery for Naga Chaitanya's Custody
Akkineni Naga Chaitanya had high expectations for his film Custody, trusting in the expertise of acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu
HYDERABAD: Akkineni Naga Chaitanya had high expectations for his film Custody, trusting in the expertise of acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. He actively participated in promoting the film, hoping for its success. Unfortunately, Custody faced a major setback right from its opening weekend, experiencing a significant drop in box office performance.
The reports say that the film's business was around Rs 22 crores, but the film failed even to collect Rs 5 crores on its opening weekend. The film's disappointing performance extended to the international market as well, with the USA box office closing at less than $200K, which shocked many.
Despite the hopes that Custody would show some improvement over the weekend after a lackluster opening, it ultimately turned out to be a massive disaster, recording weak collections throughout. If this trend continues, Custody is set to join the list of costly failures.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, Custody features Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty in the lead roles. However, the film failed to ignite audience interest and has been deemed a non-starter at the box office.
