HYDERABAD: Our Telugu filmmakers have a habit of importing villains from Bollywood. Mostly, these actors are the faded-out heroes in the Hindi film industry and are looking for a break in their respective second innings. However, the addition of these villains rarely helps our Telugu movies.

Especially in the recent past, including Bollywood antagonists is doing no good for our films. The likes of Tarun Arora, Vivek Oberoi, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Kunal Kapoor tried their luck in being the baddies in Tollywood. However, their careers as villains didn't progress as expected.

Recently, we have seen the announcement about Arjun Rampal, known for films like Om Shanti Om, Rock On, and Ra One, debuting in Tollywood with the upcoming Balakrishna-Anil Ravipudi film.

Generally, these imported villains speak in a fake Telugu accent and don corporate getups in our movies. Going by the looks, even Arjun Rampal looks the same.

But Anil Ravipudi is known for comically designing his villain characters. So, we must see if he can project Arjun in a unique avatar. This untitled movie is slated for a grand release on October 20.

If Anil Ravipudi can crack the success formula for these villains in Tollywood, there is high chance that the other directors will start following him.
