Ugram & Rama Banam disaapointed at the box-office; All eyes on Custody
There were many hopes on May releases. Gopichand's Rama Banam and Allari Naresh's Ugram were released on the first Friday of this month
HYDERABAD: Tollywood has been going through a dull phase for the last few weeks. Especially, April had been a disappointing month for the Telugu film industry. Big flicks like Ravanasura, Shaakuntalam, Agent and Ponniyin Selvan 2 tanked at the box office. Only Virupaksha managed to become a successful venture.
There were many hopes on May releases. Gopichand's Rama Banam and Allari Naresh's Ugram were released on the first Friday of this month. Unfortunately, both films failed to impress the audience and are set to become box office flops.
Rama Banam is an age-old commercial drama which was outrightly rejected by the audience. Director Sriwaas, who gave Gopichand big hits like Lakshyam and Loukyam, delivered a disaster with this new flick. In the first three days, it managed to collect a share of just more than 2 crores and heading to become a big flop in Gopichhand's career.
On the flip side, Ugram is better than Rama Banam but is not exceptional either. Barring Allari Naresh's honest performance, the film suffered from mediocre writing. As a result, even it may end up as a flop. In the first two days, Ugram collected less amount.
Now, all eyes are on Naga Chaitanya's Custody, which is set to hit the screens on May 12.
