HYDERABAD: It has been reported that American publication 'USA Today' has shortlisted Tollywood actor Jr NTR as a frontrunner for the Best Actor award at the 2023 Oscars. This comes after his role in SS Rajamouli's RRR, which won the Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for the song "Naatu Naatu" in the Best Original Song category. Ahead of the Oscars 2023 nominations, the buzz around the film gets intensified.
RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, and it collected over Rs 1200 crore worldwide. The official Oscar nominations will be announced on January 24, 2023, and the ceremony will take place on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
On the professional front, Jr NTR is set to begin filming for his upcoming 30th film, titled NTR30, directed by Koratala Siva of Janatha Garage fame, with a release date of April 5, 2024. He also has another project, NTR31, in the works, which will be directed by KGF's Prashanth Neel.
RRR also features Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakhani, Chandrasekhar, Rahul Ramakrishna and others. DVV Danayya bankrolled the project under the DVV Entertainments banner.
