Vaarasudu is neither a sequel nor a remake

HYDERABAD: Ace producer Dil Raju is making his Tamil debut with Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film Varisu. The pre-release event of this movie was held in Chennai last night. For the last few days, it is widely rumoured that Varisu is a sequel or a remake of a Telugu film.

Dil Raju opened up on these rumours at the pre-release recent. He said that Varisu is neither a remake nor a sequel. He said that it is a pakka straight Tamil film that will appeal to family audiences. He said that families will have a good time watching Varisu in theatres during the Pongal festive season.

Touted to be a social drama filled with commercial elements, Varisu will have a worldwide release on January 12, 2023. It will have a simultaneous release in Telugu as Vaarasudu. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead in the movie. Vamshi Paidipally is the director of the project. Thaman is composing the music for it.

In Tamil Nadu, Varisu will compete against Ajith's Thunivu at the box office. In the Telugu states, it will take on Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy and Thegimpu (Thunivu's Telugu version).
