HYDERABAD: Yet another veteran actor Chalapathi Rao, who played memorable supporting roles in many films, passed away this morning in Hyderabad.
The Telugu film industry is yet to recover from the news of senior actor Kaikala Satyanarayana. He passed away just a couple of days ago.
According to the reports, Chalapathi Rao died due to a sudden cardiac arrest in the early hours of Sunday. He was 78. In a career spanning over five decades, Rao acted in various roles in more than 1200 films. He was best known for his negative roles.
His first film was the 1966 release, Goodachari 116. He was last seen in the movie O Manishi Neevevaru. Rao also made a mark by acting in various mythological roles. He played the role of Sootharaju and Indra in the movie.
Chalapathi Rao was born on May 8th 1944 in Balliparru village of Krishna district. He had three children. His son Ravi Babu is a popular actor, director and producer. His daughters are Malini Devi and Sridevi. Rao's mortal remains are currently kept in Ravi babu's residency in Hyderabad. Many industry celebrities and fans are offering their last respects to the iconic actor. His final rites will be held on Wednesday after his daughter comes from the USA. Until then, the body will be kept at Mahaprasthanam crematorium.
