HYDERABAD: Popular singer Sonu Nigam was allegedly attacked by the son of Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Phaterpekar. Sonu and one of his aides were manhandled when a group of people surrounded them asking for selfies while they were leaving the stage after a live performance at Chembur in Mumbai. Sonu's aide suffered minor injuries and he was given treatment in a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, the video of this incident went viral on social media.
Speaking to the media, Sonu stated that he was pushed while he was getting down the stage. "Rabbani (Khan) came to save me and he was pushed from behind. He could have died," he further added. He said that he filed a complaint because people must think before forcing somebody to take a selfie.
After enquiring, it was found out that the culprit is the son of MLA Prakash Phaterpekar. The police have filed a case against him.
Meanwhile, senior police officer Hemraj Singh Rajput said that it seemed nothing intentional when he had questioned Sonu Nigam about the incident. "It was spontaneous and was done by only one person. Volunteers who were present there handled the situation. The intention might have been to take a photograph or get media footage. Anyway, the police will further investigate the case," he went on to add.
