HYDERABAD: Megastar Chiranjeevi has arrived in theatres during this Sankranthi festive season with his new film Waltair Veerayya. Directed by Bobby Kolli, this movie features Shruti Haasan, Ravi Teja and Catherine Tresa in the other main roles. The film showed domination over other releases and it has crossed the mark of one million dollar rupees already.
The festive holiday season worked well for Waltair Veerayya as it registered excellent opening day numbers across all areas. Not only in the domestic market, but the film got huge openings in the overseas market as well.
According to the trade reports, Waltair Veerayya crossed $670k from its premieres in the USA. Later, the film registered big numbers and crossed one million dollar mark. As the movie got positive talk and it is a long weekend in the USA as well, the film may earn a big amount in the next few days.
On the flip side, Nandamuri Balakrishna's Veera Simha Reddy collected $708k from premieres, $70k on the first day and $50k on Friday. The numbers on Saturday are also disappointing.
Thunivu (Tegimpu) and Varisu (Vaarasudu) also failed to put a checkmate to Waltair Veerayya's run at the USA box office.
