Weekend Watch: Jee Karda & Shaitan offer Only 'Bold' but not 'Gold' Content
The advent of OTT platforms gave creative freedom to writers and directors to include bold scenes and cuss language in their web films and series
HYDERABAD: The advent of OTT platforms gave creative freedom to writers and directors to include bold scenes and cuss language in their web films and series. But in pursuit of making their content 'bold', the makers are forgetting to write an engaging story.
This weekend, two such bold series have premiered in the digital arena and both of them are criticized for poor content. They are Jee Karda and Shaitan.
Jee Karda is an Amazon Prime Video original, which stars Tamannaah in the lead role. It explores the story of seven childhood friends who are facing the challenges of their adulthood. Audiences who watched the series opined that this show has nothing noteworthy, apart from Tamannaah's bold scenes.
On the flip side, Shaitan is a Telugu web series created by popular director Mahi V Raghav. The trailer caught everyone's attention with cuss words and bold scenes. The series premiered on Disney+ Hotstar today. It is a story that is set in the Naxal backdrop. People who watched the show opined that the episodes are lengthy and lethargic, and the bold scenes also have minimal purpose.
Going by these reviews, it is high time for the makers to focus on content rather than bold and intimate scenes, from now on.
