Youngest to donate organs in South India

HYDERABAD: Parents of a 14-month-old baby, who was declared brain dead, donated her organs in Hyderabad. Thus, she stood as the youngest person to donate organs in the entire South India. Srikanth and Santoshi, who live in Kothapet of Hyderabad had twins. The first child Devaki Srisai recently suffered from dehydration. The parents initially took her to a local hospital. As the condition worsened, they shifted the baby to KIMS hospital in Secunderabad. Doctors tried for three days to save the baby. But, unfortunately, they declared the baby brain dead on Thursday night.

The organ donation coordinators counseled the parents and relatives of the baby on the importance of organ donation. The parents then decided to donate the baby's kidneys and eyes. Srikanth, the baby's father is a delivery boy in Amazon. Mother Santoshi is a homemaker. They felt happy, despite being devastated by her demise, as their baby could save two lives. A green channel helped the organs reach their needed destination, said Jeevandaan committee members.
