1,500 cops, 360 CCTV cameras enforce safety at Uppal Stadium for India Vs English Test Match

HYDERABAD: A total of 1,500 police personnel have been deployed, and 360 CCTV cameras installed by Rachakonda police ahead of the India vs. England Test Match at Uppal Stadium.
Rachakonda police commissionerate is taking significant security measures in preparation for the India vs. England Test Match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, Hyderabad from January 26-29, 2024.
With a seating capacity of approximately 39,600, Uppal Cricket Stadium has undertaken unprecedented precautions to ensure a smooth and incident-free Test Match day. These measures aim to prevent any untoward incidents and contribute to the overall safety and security of the event.
To ensure the safety of players and spectators during the India vs. England Test Match in Hyderabad, Rachakonda Police has made elaborate bandobust arrangements. Collaborating with various wings, including Law and Order (650), Security (200), Traffic (250), TSSP/AR force with 10 platoons (200), Octopus One team (40), Mounted Police (10), Vajra (10), and other specialized units such as SB, CI Cell, Intelligence, CCS staff, SOT, and 4 fire tenders equipped with a firefighting squad, a total of about 15,00 police personnel have been strategically deployed for effective security coordination.
Gate No.1 exclusively caters to players, with restricted access for others. Spectators are directed to enter through designated gates based on their ticketing, and a well-prepared evacuation plan is in place for any emergency situation.
To bolster security, a network of 360 CCTV cameras is being installed in and around the stadium, including vehicle checkpoints. These cameras cover the entire area, and a centralized command & control room has been established to monitor all CCTV footage promptly and facilitate immediate actions as needed.
A joint command & control room has been set up to monitor all CCTV footage from the stadium on the South ground floor. This central hub ensures immediate action can be taken based on real-time observations and enhances the overall security management during the event.
A specialized SHE Teams/Anti-Eve-Teasing unit has been deployed to address and prevent harassment against women attending the match.
Vigilance teams are in place to supervise vendors, ensuring adherence to prescribed rates, and the antecedents of personnel engaged by sponsors/vendors are thoroughly checked.
Adequate parking spaces have been identified for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers, with specific entry points and instructions for car pass holders, physically challenged viewers, and school buses.
Spectators are encouraged to enter the stadium three hours before the match starts, and measures are in place to restrict frequent entry and exit.
Special Operation Teams (SOT) would be deployed outside the stadium to curb black ticketing and illegal activities.
The medical infrastructure is bolstered, with an increased fleet of ambulances and dedicated teams equipped to handle emergencies.
