Aarvee, Systra chosen consultants for making DPRs of Hyderabad Metro Rail phase 3

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited's Managing Director NVS Reddy has revealed that two consultancy firms — Aarvee and Systra — have been chosen to make detailed project reports (DPRs) for the phase III expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail, according to Managing Director of HMRL NVS Reddy.

He said on Saturday that five consultancy firms participated in the tenders for preparing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for Metro Rail Phase-III. After meticulous evaluation by the HMRL tender committee, four of these firms - Aarvee Associates, Systra, UMTC, and RITES - qualified on technical grounds. The financial bids for these consultancies were opened on August 30, 2023 at the Metro Rail Bhavan.

NVS Reddy announced that Aarvee Associates achieved the highest technical score and presented the lowest financial bids for all four project packages. Accordingly, as per the tender conditions, Aarvee Associates was granted two packages, while the remaining two were awarded to the second-highest technical scorer, Systra, after it matched the lowest financial bid.

Here are the selected consultancy agencies for their respective packages:

Package I

3. ORR Medchal Jn - ORR Patancheruvu Jn (29 km); Total: 58 km

These selected consultancy firms would now have the task of delivering Preliminary Project Reports (PPRs) within two months. This involved conducting comprehensive traffic surveys, travel demand forecasts, ridership estimates, alternative options analysis, and recommending suitable modes of public transport. Subsequently, they are required to prepare DPRs within three months. These reports would provide intricate details regarding the Metro Rail alignment, options for viaducts, at-grade, or underground routes, station and depot plans, electric traction systems, signaling and train communication, coach specifications, environmental and social impact assessments, transit-oriented development, cost estimates, fare structures, financial analyses, and project implementation plans.

NVS Reddy also noted that, following instructions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the selected agencies had been directed to commence field surveys in all the designated corridors simultaneously.
