Begumpet airport gears up for Wings India 2024 from January 18-21
The event is expected to host new-generation aircraft displays, allied aviation services, auxiliary unit industries, and tourism sectors
HYDERABAD: In a coordination meeting held on Tuesday, Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari discussed the preparations for the upcoming Wings India 2024 event with senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, FICCI, and state government representatives.
Scheduled to take place at Begumpet airport from January 18-21, 2024, the event is expected to host new-generation aircraft displays, allied aviation services, auxiliary unit industries, and tourism sectors.
Given the event's larger scale this year and the anticipated participation of high-level dignitaries, Kumari stressed the importance of comprehensive planning. Key areas of focus include parking arrangements and ensuring seamless traffic movement during the event, especially on the last two days when over one lakh attendees are expected.

Chief Secretary Kumari asked police officials to identify alternate parking sites and instructed the GHMC to enhance sanitation measures. Emphasis was placed on scaling up garbage collection during the event, and advisories will be issued to the public to avoid littering roads. Additionally, the public is urged not to fly kites around the airport area two days prior to the event, as it could pose a hindrance to international aircraft displays.
Asangba Chuba Ao, the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation, highlighted the Wings India 2024 event as an excellent opportunity for the State government to showcase developmental activities. The biennial event also featured activities related to travel, tourism, startups, skill development, and career opportunities in the aviation sector.
The meeting was attended by Prl. Secretary R&B Srinivas Raju, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Ross, Director FICCI Manoj, Director Aviation Bharat Reddy, Begumpet Airport Director P K Hajari, and other senior officials.
