Candle light rally by Osmania University students for peace in Manipur
The participants expressed concern and condemnation over the incidents of sexual violence against women in the region
HYDERABAD: Students from Osmania University in Hyderabad held a candlelight march on Friday night to pray for the restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur where over 120 people have lost their lives in the recent violence.
During the march, the participants also expressed their deep concern and condemnation over the incidents of sexual violence against women in the region, including the horrific video depicting two women being paraded naked.
The students were joined by Congress leader Kiran Mugabasav who made an urgent appeal for justice and peace in Manipur, outlining the demands and necessary actions to be taken.
"Apprehend all culprits involved in the viral video and register cases for all instances of rape and molestation. Necessary support should be provided to the displaced in relief camps and their rehabilitation should be facilitated. The Centre should consider implementing President's Rule until the violence subsides. Support and compassion should be extended to our Manipuri brothers and sisters to foster a sense of belonging," he said.
