CBI arrests three including Jt DGFT, MD of a private company in a bribery case

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) arrested three individuals in a bribery case, including a Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, a Section Head, and a private company Managing Director in a bribery case.
A case was registered against a Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Section Head, and Managing Director of a private company in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Public servants were accused of demanding large bribes from consultants for issuing new import-export certificates, renewals, and related licences.
The CBI apprehended the Joint Director General of Foreign Trade, Visakhapatnam, for demanding a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh and Rs. 50,000 from a Hyderabad-based private company's Managing Director in a trap that led to their arrest.
Searches were conducted at the accused's premises in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, and Bangalore, resulting in the recovery of incriminating documents.
All arrested accused were presented to the Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases, Visakhapatnam, and remanded to Judicial Custody until September 18, 2023.
