HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad Railway Police, in collaboration with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday apprehended a notorious chain-snatching offender linked to five separate incidents.

The suspect, identified as Chinnaiah Veera Raghavulu Akash, 23, was taken into custody during a routine check on platform no. 10 at Secunderabad Railway Station.

During a routine check, police found a 15-gram gold neck chain in Akash's possession. He subsequently confessed to his involvement in five snatching cases within the jurisdiction of RPS Secunderabad.

Akash's modus operandi involved targeting lone women passengers in slowly moving trains. He executed the thefts with precision, emphasizing a calculated approach to his criminal activities.

The recovered property includes a variety of gold ornaments, totaling 143 grams, worth Rs. 9 lakh. These items were linked to specific incidents, such as the snatching of a gold neck chain from a woman passenger in Godavari Express and similar incidents in Lingampally Express, Kakatiya Express, Secunderabad Express, and Lingampally Express again.

The arrest of the accused was successfully carried out under the supervision of Shaikh Saleema, SP SRP, and key personnel, with coordinated efforts from crime staff and RPF personnel.

ADSG Mahesh Bhagwat expressed appreciation for the dedication and efficiency demonstrated by the officers and personnel of GRP Secunderabad and RPF Staff, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining railway security. As a token of acknowledgment, rewards were conferred on the diligent team involved in resolving these cases.
