HYDERABAD: Chaitanyapuri police in Kothapet of Hyderabad are facing criticism for their involvement in a civil land dispute in Phanigiri Colony. They were allegedly favouring trespassers who violated court orders in the case.

Speaking to media at Malakpet, the victims revealed that their family had purchased a 2.14-acre plot in Phanigiri Colony in 1955 in a Government auction. They said that they had been using the land for growing fodder for cattle and had been engaged in the dairy business ever since.

According to the victims, a business person Meghnath Agarwal filed a petition seeking ownership of the land. However, after a court dismissed the petition, the victim's family thought the issue was settled.

Following Meghnath Agarwal's death, his sons Pawan Agarwal and Rajesh Agarwal, with their political influence, allegedly seized the land with the help of revenue officials.

On February 21, Pawan Agarwal, along with Rajesh Agarwal's associates, allegedly entered the property, destroyed structures, and vandalized CCTV cameras. The victims accused the police were ignoring the court's ruling and favouring the trespassers.

The victims filed complaints at the ‘Praja Palana’ regarding the misconduct of the police and revenue officials. They demanded that action be taken against those responsible and violating court orders.

They sought possession of the land as per the court's decision. The victims expressed outrage at the authorities for not upholding the rule of law and instead siding with the trespassers.
