Chennai-Hyderabad Charminar Express derails, hits platform at Nampally, several hurt
The compartments hit the sidewall of the platform taking the impact of the collision with the bumper at the dead end. As the train was coming from Chennai and the last station was Nampally, there were fewer passengers on the train.
HYDERABAD: The Chennai-Hyderabad Charminar Express hit the dead-end barrier, derailed, and rested on the sidewall of platform number five at the Nampally railway station on Wednesday morning.
According to initial reports over 10 passengers travelling in three bogies (S2, S3, and S6) that derailed received injuries and all of them were sent to railway hospital for treatment. Those who received very minor injuries were given first aid and were allowed to go home. More could have been injured and details are awaited.

SCR sources said that the loco pilot hit the dead end at the Nampally station resulting in the derailment of the three bogies. Minister for Transportation and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar spoke with the railway officials and sought details of the derailment. He urged them to take all necessary steps to provide relief to the injured passengers and passengers with onward journies. As in-charge minister for Hyderabad, he also alerted district authorities.
According to SCR PRO Rakesh, a major mishap was averted because the train was at a very low speed and only those who were getting ready to alight from the train were hurt in the accident. He informed that the injured were shifted to Railway Hospital at Lalaguda and they would be provided with medical care till they recoup. The SCR undertook repair works at the Nampally station and an ex gratia was also announced
