HYDERABAD: The chief priest of Chilkur Balaji temple, CS Rangarajan came forward to the help of a Muslim Carnatic singer who performed several times at the temple.
Shaik Imdad about 45years old is a classical Carnatic Devotional singer. Imdad earns a living from singing devotional songs in Telegu and Tamil-Carnatic style in an old tradition dating back to Krishnadevaraya times in south India.
Imad suffered a massive heart stroke (Triple Vessel Disease) and underwent open heart surgery. Due to his poor health, he has been off the job for a few months. Rangarajan urged a friend of his to help Imdad,
“My good friend Rangarajan called and requested me to take up the case. I visited Imdad yesterday and promised to support him and his children's education until he finds the ground to regain normalcy,” Mujtaba H Askari of Helping Hand Foundation who helped Imdad said.
He deeply appreciated the Chilkur priest’s quest to help people in distress and to promote communal harmony.
