HYDERABAD: Responding to a news appeared in a Bengaluru daily newspaper titled "Kaynes shelves T Gana plans; chip unit moving to Gujarat' former IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao took to X and said that the Congress Government must impress upon Kaynes to stay in Telangana and build the chip unit at the land the former BRS Government had allocated to it next to Foxconn in Kongara Kalan.

"We had put in tenacious efforts to convince Kaynes to move from Karnataka to Telangana. They wanted land allotted right next to the Foxconn plant at Kongara Kalan. We got that done in less than 10 days to win them over. Now to see this news that they are moving to Gujarat is truly saddening. Kaynes OSAT unit will be an important part of the overall electronics manufacturing ecosystem and specifically the semiconductor industry. Hope the Congress Government reaches out to them and makes sure they are staying in Telangana," KTR said taking to X.

The report that KTR referred to said that the Rs 5,000 crore Outsourced Semiconductor and Assembly and Testing unit would now be built in Sanand in Gujarat. The company had performed a groundbreaking ceremony in Hyderabad five months ago. However senior officials in the Telangana Government said that they had no such information that the chip manufacturer was moving out of Telangana.
