Criminal, involved in over 100 thefts, leaves behind note of items stolen from victims' house; arrested by OU Police

HYDERABAD: The Osmania University Police have arrested a unique serial thief who is involved in over 100 thefts. The police on Wednesday seized gold ornaments worth Rs 13 lakh, two bikes and three mobile phones from the thief's possession.
According to Osmania University police, the thief, identified as Rathanavath Shankar Naik aka Rajesh Reddy, hailing from Nagarkurnool district, got addicted to a luxurious life and thus committed thefts.
In an unusual habit, Shankar Naik used to leave behind a note of what he stole from the house, besides noting them down in his diary, According to the accused, complainants used giving false information about the stolen items.
Moreover, the police said that the accused was homosexual and had resorted to thefts to fund for gay sex. The police also said that the Shankar would wear costly dresses and footwear and live in luxurious hotels after exchanging stolen jewellery for money. The police registered a case and investigation is underway.
