CV Anand hails services of Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy
CV Anand hailed the pioneering contributions made by Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy who served as the 14th Kotwal during the Nizam era
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) CV Anand on Tuesday paid rich tributes by garlanding the statue of Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy, the former Kotwal of Hyderabad, on the occasion of his 154th birth anniversary celebrations at Raja Bahadur Venkat Ram Reddy Educational Society here at Narayanaguda.
The Commissioner hailed the pioneering contributions made by Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy who served as the 14th Kotwal during the Nizam era. “Venkata Ram Reddy assumed charge of Kotwal in 1920, and in his 14 years' service, he encompassed both civic and policing works. He relentlessly worked on abolishing many social issues of the time and established educational institutions for the welfare of the girls,” Anand said.
Anand said that Raja Venkata Ram Reddy’s legacy reverberates through decades as the architect behind the City Police Act 1938, reflecting his foresight. The educational institutions established by Raja Venkata Ram Reddy to uplift society still pay rich dividends. Citing his own experience, Anand said that his family had benefited from studying in these institutions. He also urged the students to draw inspiration from Raja Bahadur Venkata Ram Reddy’s life and strive hard for success.
Anand also appreciated the executive body of the institution and presented Gold medals and Rs 5,000 each to Raghavendra, inspector of the IT cell, Hyderabad City and K Ravinder, inspector of the social media cell, Cyberabad, for their outstanding performance in recent times.
