CV Anand reviews security, traffic arrangements ahead of Formula-E race in Hyderabad
He asked the public to cooperate with the police and to take advantage of metro services
HYDERABAD: While Hyderabad prepares to host India's first Formula E race on February 11 on the scenic track surrounding Hussain sagar, the Hyderabad City Police Department is finalising security and traffic arrangements.
The huge event would be organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in partnership with the Telangana government and was expected to attract 21,000 tourists from around the world.
The 2.8 km race circuit, audience stands, entry and departure points were all examined by City Police Commissioner CV Anand, who was accompanied by his subordinates and event organisers. He reviewed the organisers' preparedness and other security concerns. CV Anand said during a media conference that approximately 575 police officers would be deployed to manage security and traffic.
He asked the public to cooperate with the police and to take advantage of metro services. 16 stands, 7 gates, and 4 foot over bridges have been built to enable unrestricted crowd movement.
He said that NTR Marg would be closed on February 5 (Sunday) to allow for the expedited completion of ongoing track repairs and other arrangements when announcing the traffic detours. He requested the public to take note of the diversions carefully and avoid movements on this side of the city. The actual diversion would then take place from February 7 until February 12, and a notification would be issued soon, he said. He urged commuters to use the metro effectively in order to avoid inconvenience.
Since the assembly sessions were planned to begin on February 3 and the secretariat inauguration on February 17, the city police chief stated that officers would be stationed to oversee the free movement of dignitaries, VVIPS, and secretariat employees, labour, and material.
"For the first time, Hyderabad joins in the action. Hosting this major event in the state highlights the state government's innovation, ambition, and willingness to speed the transition to an electric future. The organisers like to have this event in the heart of the city to bring the next generation electric automobiles closer to the people. City police will provide full support and guarantee that security measures are maximised," stated CV Anand.
Scott Anderson, Formula E Security Director; Marco, Vikram Singh Mann, Addl.CP(L&O), G.Sudheer Babu, Addl.CP- Traffic, Srinivasulu, Jt.CP(CAR & training), and other officials were present during the review inspection.
