HYDERABAD: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Raveendra on Sunday said Telangana Police ‘Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Cyber Safety, an initiative of the Telangana Police and the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), was set up at a record speed of less than six months.

While addressing the seventh SCSC Annual General Body meeting, Stephen Raveendra discussed the groundbreaking work done by the COE over the last few months and thanked the IT industry for its assistance in establishing the same. He said that SCSC was fortunate to have dedicated office bearers since 2006 who had performed excellently in serving society. He also appreciated member companies and volunteers from various walks of life, including Traffic Volunteers, Dilsey Volunteers, Sanghamithras, and Margadarshaks, who provided excellent service to women in distress.

Secretary General Ramesh Kaza welcomed the gathering and highlighted SCSC's initiatives, including the launch of the Centre of Excellence for Cyber Security, TSPCC, and enhanced Scorpio patrolling.

He said prioritizing health safety awareness for the IT workforce was crucial due to their sedentary lifestyle, as prevention is the only way to address this issue.

He said Dr. Chinna Babu, HoD Oncology Yashoda Hospital, and HoD Cardiology of AIG Hospitals, Dr. Rajiv, would collaborate to create health awareness programmes for IT and its workforce.

Talking about more initiatives taken by SCSC, he said that 12 Traffic Task Force vehicles and five new She Shuttles were launched in Cyberabad, benefiting 1.3 lakh women monthly.

A safety awareness program for construction workers was launched in response to the growing real estate industry, covering 11 large sites and 6,000 migration workers.

CEOs of IT organizations discussed easing traffic congestion in the IT Corridor and seeking industry suggestions to reduce travel time for the IT workforce daily.

Over 5,000 citizens participated in 16 road safety trainings conducted by various organizations to raise awareness about road safety.

Nine Basic Life Support programs were conducted, training nearly 600 citizens on CPR and emergency handling. A workshop was held for journalists to identify and verify fake news in the digital age.
