Cyberabad police conduct surprise checks of school buses to ensure child safety
The school bus's windows were inspected for horizontal grills, first-aid kits; and fire extinguishers were checked for availability
HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Women & Children Safety Wing (W&CSW) collaborated with the traffic department to conduct a surprise check on school buses and drivers within the school premises.
SHE teams and traffic officials conducted mock drills at international schools to educate school bus drivers and traffic officials on children's safety measures.
To ensure child safety in transit, school management must adhere to guidelines set by the Government of India, including requiring drivers to have over five years of experience and a fitness certificate.
The child safety wing verified the bus labeling for school duty stickers on both front and rear sides and checked whether the school contact number was mentioned or not on the bus.
The school bus's windows were inspected for horizontal grills, first-aid kits; and fire extinguishers were checked for availability.
The police inspected school buses, verified drivers and conductors' antecedents, ID cards, and valid driving licenses, ensuring safety and security.
DCP Nitika Pant said that the bus drivers must carry a comprehensive list of children being transported in school cabs, including their names, classes, addresses, blood groups, stoppage points and route plans.
She also verified school vehicle documents, including RC, pollution checks, fitness certificates, and insurance, and fingerprints on the bus driver to determine criminal involvement.
The child safety wing with the help of traffic officials examined the driver with a breath analyser to determine if the drivers was under the influence of alcohol or not.
