Double bedroom houses to be distributed from August first week: KTR
KTR announced that the double-bedroom houses constructed within Hyderabad limits would be distributed from August first week
HYDERABAD: Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday announced that the State Government would come up with a programme to provide eligible beneficiaries with double-bedroom houses constructed within Hyderabad limits from the first week of August.
"The State Government has aimed to construct one lakh double room houses rapidly under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). A majority of the double-bedroom houses' construction has already been completed. The construction work in other areas is in its final stage" KTR said during a review meeting held in Hyderabad.
The MA&UD Minister said that the GHMC had prepared a schedule for the distribution of already completed double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries, The revenue department would support the beneficiary selection program, and the officials were aimed to conduct the selection process transparently, as per the suggestions given by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, KTR said.
KTR suggested the GHMC officials to ensure that double-bedroom houses were provided to the eligible beneficiaries without giving any scope for political interference, apart from taking the assistance from the district collectors for the beneficiary selection process. The GHMC officials informed the minister that around 4,000 double-bedroom houses had been built so far in-situ areas and were provided to the poor.
The distribution of double-bedroom houses would commence in the first week of August, following the schedule and would continue until the houses distribution programme till the third week of October. Over 70,000 double-bedroom houses, which had already been completed, would be provided to the poor in six phases. Additionally, houses in the final stages of construction would also be added to this distribution program from time to time, the officials said.
