HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has sparked controversy after being spotted wearing a jersey adorned with the Indian Tricolour and INDIA Team slogan at a football match at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Sunday.
Not only was the Chief Minister seen sporting the Indian Tricolour jersey, but also Congress tricolour flag was prominently displayed around the boundary, further fueling the controversy and raising several questions.
Revanth Reddy’s jersey sporting INDIA Team with tricolour meaning INDIA bloc led by the Congress further highlighted the violation of model code.
The Election Commission of India (ECI), however, remained silent despite Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's apparent violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), especially considering their prevention of BRS President KCR from offering condolences in Deverakonda.
The Election Commission of India denied permission for BRS supremo KCR from visiting Deverakonda to pay his last respects to Ramawat Kanilal Naik, the father of former Deverakonda MLA Ramawat Ravindra Kumar Naik and to attend the funeral rites. KCR's visit was canceled after the district collector denied permission, citing the MCC.
