Fire breaks out in Jolly Kids play school in Manikonda

HYDERABAD: A fire broke out in a classroom of Jolly Kids Play School in Manikonda of Hyderabad on Tuesday. An electric short circuit in the air conditioner in one of the classrooms was suspected to have sparked the fire.

According to locals, the fire broke out in a classroom on the first floor of the building. Around 20 students were in the classroom at the time of the incident. As the fire began rapidly spreading, all the children panicked and ran helter-skelter. An alert school management shifted the children to a nearby campus. Upon receiving the information about the incident, a fire tender was pressed into service and the fire was brought under control. Anxious parents of the children rushed to the play school on knowing about the mishap. They heaved a big sigh of relief after the fire was brought under control. None of the students was injured in the incident.

A team of police personnel reached the spot and examined the premises. Play equipment in the school was totally burnt. A case has been registered and further investigation is going on, the police said.
