HYDERABAD: The task force team of the Commissioner of Food Safety in Telangana conducted inspections in PGs and hostels in the Madhapur area of Hyderabad.
During the raids, the food safety team found severe violations at Sri Lakshmi OG Hostel, Kavuri Hills, VG Homestay in Madhapur, Narayana Medical Academy, and Narayana Society hostel in Madhapur.
Sri Lakshmi PG Hostel, Kavuri Hills
The facility was found operating without an FSSAI license. Vegetables (cauliflower and ladiesfinger) were found to be infested with pests. The dosa pan was rusted, and the work area was observed to be unhygienic. Rice and dals were improperly stored along with mattresses.
Spot tests were conducted for water and tomato sauce in the 'Food Safety on Wheels' vehicle, and parameters were found to be within acceptable ranges. Loose chili powder and Bengal gram samples were taken on suspicion of adulteration.
VG Homestay, Madhapur:
The facility was operating without an FSSAI license, and the use of food colors was observed. The dosa tawa was found to be rusted. Raw materials and vegetables were found in unsanitary conditions. The refrigerator was found to be unhygienic.
Workers were found without hairnets. Spot tests were conducted for drinking water, vinegar, chili sauce, and tomato sauce, with parameters found to be within acceptable ranges. A loose chili powder sample was taken on suspicion of adulteration.
Narayana Medical Academy, Sy No. 11/51, Madhapur:
The establishment was found operating without an FSSAI license, and there was no FOSTAC supervisor among the employees. The team also found the base of water dispensers to be rusted and the serving area unclean.
Narayana Society, Sy No. 11/20, Madhapur:
The task force team found 2 kg of expired white gravy and 2 kg of chopp masala. There was no FOSTAC supervisor among the staff. The dosa pan was found to be unhygienic and rusted.
The team observed multiple hygiene issues in the kitchen and grinding areas, which were untidy and had high chances of contamination. Open drainage, garbage storage areas, and the wash area were found to be unhygienic.
