Food safety task force uncovers violations in restaurants in Lakdikapul, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Task Force team of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) conducted inspections at several restaurants in the Lakdikapul area in Hyderabad on Sunday.
During the inspections at Hydrate- The Bar, Hotel New Fishland, and Hotel Ashoka in Lakdikapul, several violations were found.
Hydrate - The Bar, Lakdikapul
The task force team found expired food items such as Chilled Chicken Wings (10kg), Amul Peanut Spread (0.9kg), and Pasta/Macaroni (5kg) inside the kitchen premises, which were subsequently discarded. Additionally, BBQ Sauce (4 units) lacking importer labels was seized.
Dustbins were observed to be open without proper lids, and medical fitness certificates for food handlers were not available with the Food Business Operator (FBO). Although semi-prepared food items stored in the refrigerator were covered, they lacked proper labeling. The true copy of the FSSAI license was not displayed at the premises.
Pest control records and water analysis reports for RO water used in cooking were available with the FBO.
Hotel Ashoka, Lakdikapul
Expired food items like Chicken Leg Boneless (5kg), Liquid Caramel Colour, and Green Gram Dal (10kg) were found infested with Black Beetles and were immediately discarded.
Cashew packets (24 pkts) were seized due to non-compliance with FSSAI labeling regulations. Cockroach infestation was observed near the red meat storage area.
Semi-prepared food items stored in the refrigerator were properly covered and labeled, and dustbins were found closed with lids. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records for the premises were available with the FBO.
The true copy of the FSSAI license was displayed at the premises.
Hotel New Fishland, Lakdikapul
Rat infestation was observed inside the kitchen premises with live rats roaming over the floor and exhaust vents. No rat traps were arranged by the FBO. Synthetic food colors found in the kitchen were discarded immediately.
Dustbins were found open without proper lids. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records for the premises were not available with the FBO.
