Four judges from Telangana, two from AP High Court transferred to other States
The Supreme Court Collegium led by CJI DY Chandrachud has recommended transferring of four judges from Telangana and two from AP to other States
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has recommended transferring High Court judges of 23 States, including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Courts on Thursday.
As per the transfer recommendations, the judges from Telangana High Court, Justice C Sumalatha, who had been working from October 15, 2021, was transferred to Karnataka High Court, followed by Justice Munnuri Laxman to Rajasthan High Court, Justice Mummineni Sudheer Kumar, working from March 24, 2022 to Madras High Court and Justice Anupama Chakraborty to Patna High Court respectively.
When it comes to Andhra Pradesh, the Supreme Court Collegium transferred Justice Gadaman Manavendranath Roy, who had been serving in the AP High Court since June 20, 2019, to the Gujarat High Court. Justice Duppala Venkataramana who had been serving since August 4, 2022, was transferred to Madhya Pradesh High Court respectively.
The Collegium comprising Justices S K Kaul, Sanjeev Khanna, B R Gavai and Surya Kant on August 3, 2023 made the proposals for the transfers. However, it made a few changes later at the request of judges.
