Foxconn chairman Young Liu writes to Telangana CM KCR: Reiterates commitment to set up unit at Kongara Kalan

HYDERABAD: Chairman of Hon Hai Precision Industry Company Ltd (Foxconn Technology Group) Young Liu, on Monday, reiterated his company’s commitment set up a manufacturing facility at Kongara Kalan near Hyderabad “as early as possible”.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the Foxconn chairman sough the support of his (CM’s) team in operationalising the Kongara Kalan Park as early as possible.
Inviting KCR to Taiwan, Liu said: I would also like to take this opportunity to kindly invite you to Taiwan as my personal guest. It would be my honour to host you in Taipei.”
Liu said in his letter to KCR: “At the outset, I wish to convey my sincere gratitude for the hospitality extended to me and my team during our visit to Hyderabad. We had a wonderful time during our stay in Hyderabad.
“I also wish to thank you for your warm birthday wishes and a personalized card. I was indeed inspired by your vision and the efforts towards transformation and development of Telangana. I now have a new friend in India and I look forward to working with you in future.
“As discussed with you during our meeting on March 2nd, Foxconn is committed to setting up a manufacturing facility in Kongara Kalan and I seek the support of your team in operationalizing the Kongara Kalan Park as early as possible.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to kindly invite you to Taiwan as my personal guest. It would be my honour to host you in Taipei.”
It maybe recalled that reports have surfaced that Foxconn had not entered into any definitive agreement with anybody in India. This statement was released by Hon Hai Precision Industry Company Ltd (Foxconn Technology Group) on Saturday in the light of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai that Foxconn would be setting up an iPhone manufacturing unit at a cost of USD 700 million creating an employment opportunity for one lakh people and also Telangana Chief Minister’s tweet that Foxconn would be setting up a unit in Telangana creating an employment potential of one lakh in the next 10 years.
