Gang attacks youth in Punjagutta, locals resist murder bid

HYDERABAD: A gang of 20 members attacked a young man at a shopping mall under the Punjagutta police station limits in Hyderabad.

According to the information, 20 assailants came in cars, dragged and thrashed the victim, soon after he came out of a shopping mall at Punjagutta circle. As the accused tried to kill the young man with weapons they brought, the locals obstructed them and raised alarm. Seeing the spontaneous public reaction and sensing more trouble, the attackers fled from the scene.

It was alleged that the Punjagutta police did not immediately respond to the incident even after being informed about it. Later, the locals themselves reportedly shifted the victim to a hospital. Full details are yet to be ascertained.
