HCU under tension amid SFI’s BBC documentary on Modi Vs ABVP’s Kashmir Files shows
The documentary, which was made by the International news agency, was centred on Narendra Modi's involvement in the Gujarat riot.
HYDERABAD: The students of Hyderabad Central University gathered in large numbers on the campus on Republic Day to watch the screening of part one and two of BBC's documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The documentary, which was made by the International news agency, was centred on Narendra Modi's involvement in the Gujarat riots. The documentary was banned from all OTT platforms in India.
The screening was organised by the youths of Students Federation of India (SFI), a left-winged youth party.
The BJP Government at the Centre drew flak from several quarters for banning the movie. A lot of social activists also criticised the move to ban the screening of the documentary. However, the BJP seconded the decision of the government saying that this was an attack on the sovereignty and integrity of India and such media act could not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, senior Congressman A K Antony’s son, Anil Antony, the social media head in Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, resigned from the party as his social media post in support of the government’s decision was criticised by many Congressmen.
As a counter to this, the youths of Akhil Bhartiya Vidya Parishad (ABVP) screened 'The Kashmir Files', a movie which portrayed the Muslim community in a provocative manner.
