Heroin worth Rs 41.4 crore seized in Shamshabad airport; bomb hoax, case booked

HYDERABAD: The customer care department of GMR International Airport in Shamshabad received a voice message from an unidentified person a bomb was planted at the airport on Sunday. Alarmed by this, the airport staff declared high alert and filed a complaint. The police and bomb squads started a hunt which later turned out to be a hoax. The cops also traced the message was received from abroad and launched an investigation.
Meanwhile, customs officials made a huge drug bust at the airport. About 5.93 kg of heroin worth Rs 41 crore was seized from a female passenger from Zambia. The woman had hid the contraband in her handbag, suitcase and a document holder. The police have taken her into custody.
