Hours after the announcement of the schedule for the Assembly elections in Telangana, several incidents of money and gold seizures were reported in the city on Monday.

HYDERABAD: Hours after the announcement of the schedule for the Assembly elections in Telangana, several incidents of money and gold seizures were reported in the city on Monday. In one incident, Congress party leaders were found distributing cookers with an image of Raghunath Yadav in Gopanpally of Serilingampally constituency to woo the public. Two individuals, Ramulu Naik and Narsimha, were arrested, and 87 cookers were seized by the Gachibowli police.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Central Zone DCP Venkateshwarlu and his team conducted inspections and seized 7 kg gold and 285 kg silver under the Abids police station limits. The gold and silver were being transported without proper security by Caps Gold Pvt Ltd in an MG Electric Car (TS 10 EX 2499) at Nizam College Gate No. 1 in Basheerbagh.

Additionally, 16 kg of gold was seized during inspections at Hyderabad Nizam Club, and 5.65 kg of gold jewellery was seized in Chandanagar. Three individuals were detained in Chandanagar. In Vanasthalipuram, cash amounting to Rs 4 lakh was also seized.

The Special Operations Team (SOT) in LB Nagar conducted vehicle inspections in compliance with the Model Code of Conduct and seized Rs 30 lakh along with one active bike. These items were handed over to the local police station. The Chaitanyapuri police registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.

Unaccounted money was seized in various locations of Hyderabad including Rs 15 lakh at Puranapul Gandhi Statue, Rs 30 lakh from a Creta car in Shaikpet, Rs 9.3 lakh at Panchasheela X Road, and Rs 2.77 lakh from a young woman in Begum Bazar.
