HYDERABAD: Sudden rains swept through the city, accompanied by winds and thunderstorms, leading to heavy traffic jams across Hyderabad. Waterlogged roads, a result of the downpour, caused congestion, particularly in the IT hub of the city.

Traffic moved slowly from Nanakramguda to Gachibowli junction on ORR due to the heavy volume of vehicles. Heavy traffic was witnessed at IKEA junction from all directions. The Cyberabad traffic police urged commuters to avoid this route and plan their journey accordingly, considering the heavy rains and waterlogged roads.

The vehicle movement was sluggish from Mehdipatnam, SD Eye Hospital, Humayun Nagar, NMDC, and Masabtank due to the heavy rainfall. Similar delays were reported from other areas such as opposite Prajavani Bhavan, Kakathiya Hotel, Monappa, and Panjagutta X Road, heading towards NFCL. Rasoolpura, Begumpet, CTO, and HPS out gate also experienced slow traffic due to the rain.

Traffic movement was affected from NFCL, GVK, Care Banjara, Viranchi Junction, Khaja Mansion towards Masabtank, Panjagutta, and Banjara Hills. Traffic police were deployed across junctions to regulate traffic, and commuters were advised to explore alternate routes.

Commuters were urged to avoid areas prone to waterlogging, including Traffic Control Room, Old PS Saifabad, Panjagutta, MBNR X Road, Mytrivanam, V.V Statue, Image Hospital & Ranigunj junctions, to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams worked to clear water stagnation in various parts of the city. The DRF team also requested the commuters to dial 040-21111111 or 9000113667 for GHMC-DRF assistance.
