Hyderabad man stabbed to death in UK by Ugandan nationals
An elderly man from Hyderabad who went to London to earn a livelihood, was stabbed to death by two unidentified persons during an altercation
HYDERABAD: In a tragic incident, an elderly man from Hyderabad who went to London to earn livelihood, was stabbed to death by two unidentified persons during an altercation.
The accused have been identified as Ugandan nationals who entered into an altercation with the deceased at Hill Top Avenue, Leeds in West Yorkshire. While the crime took place on September 30, 2023, it came to light only on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Khaja Rayeesuddin (65), a resident of Masab Tank. He is survived by his wife and two children.
Rayeesuddin went to London in 2011 to earn his livelihood. The family hoped that Rayeesuddin would return to the city for his daughter's wedding on October 5 but was devastated by the tragic news of his death as he was the sole breadwinner of the family.
Rayeesuddin and an Afghan national were reportedly murdered by two Ugandan nationals during an altercation. Rayeesuddin lost his life when he tried to intervene. All of a sudden, the Ugandans attacked Rayeesuddin and the Afghan with a knife and fled the spot stealing cash from the victims. The police said that the duo sustained severe injuries. Rayeesuddin was airlifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Hill Top Avenue police arrested two accused in the double murder case and further investigations were underway into the incident. Family members appealed to Union Minister for External Affairs S Jaishankar to direct the Indian High Commissioner in London to make necessary arrangements and bring back Rayeesuddin's body to Hyderabad.
