Hyderabad police arrest IPS officer Naveen Kumar, jt director in RBVRRTS police academy over property dispute

HYDERABAD: B Naveen Kumar an IPS officer of the 2008 cadre currently posted as the joint director at the Telangana State Police Academy was arrested by the police on Wednesday while he was on his way to his office by a few policemen in Mufti.
The police also took into custody the officer’s brother-in-law Orsu Sambasiva Rao and his wife Roopa Dimple in connection with the case of creating fake documents to grab property owned by Bhanwarlal. However, the CCS police in the FIR mentioned that Sambasiva Rao and his wife were arrested on December 22, 2023, and were presented before the court, saying that Naveen Kumar was absconding.
The officer was then moved to the CCS for questioning about a case filed by former bureaucrat Bhanwarlal’s wife Mani Lal. Naveen was staying at the latter's house in Begumpet. Bhanwarlal alleged that Naveen Kumar was trying to grab the house he was staying by creating fake documents.
Meanwhile, BC Welfare Association in a statement condemned the arrest of Naveen Kumar and pointed out that the Police authorities who had been trying to stop the promotion of Naveen Kumar who is a BC, got him arrested by conniving with a forward caste retired IAS officer Bhanwarlal. The Association warned that they would undertake an agitation under the leadership of national BC leader R Krishnaiah if the arrested officer was not released immediately.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner in a statement on Wednesday said that B Naveen Kumar was questioned by ACP Ashok Kumar at the CCS Police Station in connection with a complaint filed by Mani Lal, wife of Bhanwarlal on November 17, 2023. A case was booked under sections 420, 406, 467, 468, 471 r/w 34 IPC.
It's false case: Naveen Kumar
Naveen Kumar said that he attended before the CCS police for questioning. “It’s a false case. They registered a case based on a false compliant,” he said. The IPS officer also said that soon the facts would come out.
Earlier in 2012, Naveen Kumar was suspended by the then Andhra Pradesh government has Naveen Kumar for leveling false charges against another IPS officer of 2005 batch C M Trivikrama Varma.
Kumar alleged that Varma was involved in the smuggling of narcotics and even threatened to kill him. Based on his complaint the State Government ordered an inquiry by Eluru range DIG G Suryaprakash Rao, to look into charges against C M Trivikrama Varma.
Naveen Kumar was suspended after the inquiry revealed that his allegations were baseless. The then Chief Secretary Minnie Mathews placed him under suspension for gross misconduct and rank insubordination. He was also accused of talking to media and making allegations against a senior police officer, which was gross misconduct under Rule 17 of the All India Services (Conduct) rules, 1968.
