HYDERABAD: Hyderabad police on Monday arrested five individuals in connection with a gang rape case that occurred 10 days ago in Lalaguda, under the jurisdiction of Chilkalguda.

The accused, identified as Barna Yesu, Seetha Madhu Yadav, Sirigiri Prashanth Kumar, Pastham Tharun Kumar, and Keshojuva Rohith, were successfully tracked down using CCTV footage and produced before the court and were placed on judicial remand.

Barna Yesu, a mechanic, observed the victim while riding his Honda Activa Bike on December 7. He gave her a lift by misguiding her to drop her off at Lalapet and taking her close to the abandoned old railway quarters in Prashanth Nagar. He also called the second accused, Seetha Madhu Yadav, and asked him to meet him near the old Railway Quarters.

Both of them sexually assaulted the woman, followed by their friends Sirigiri Prashanth Kumar, Pastham Tharun Kumar, and Keshojuva Rohith. Seetha Madhu Yadav later dropped the victim off in Tarnaka.

A case was registered under U/s 363, 376(D) IPC at Lallaguda police station against the five accused.

The arrest was made under the supervision and guidance of V. Jayapal Reddy, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Chilkalguda Division, East Zone, Hyderabad, and K. Madhulatha, Inspector of Police, Lallaguda PS, Prabhakar, DI Warasidguda, Srisailam, DI Chilkalguda, Ch. Nagaraju, SI Lallaguda, Shahid Pasha SI Lallaguda, Prakash Reddy SI Warasiguda, Anjaneyulu SI Chilkalguda, and the entire Crime Team of Chilkalguda Division made sincere efforts in nabbing the accused.

Dy. Commissioner of Police East Zone, Hyderabad V. Jayapal Reddy expressed his appreciation and appropriate reward for the commendable work of the police officials.
